WASHINGTON STATE PREMIER 1
State Cup Quarterfinal, April 27, 2008
Spokane Shadow 1 ECFC 0
Suddenly, too suddenly, it's all over! OH! It has been a great run! For this
long time parent observer (GU11 to GU18), I can tell you it has been a
marvelous and thrilling ride...what a run! Like riding a roller coaster
eight times in a row!!
It feels very weird to be writing, as I suspect it does to all of you to
be reading,
this last game summary in the history of ECFC Fusion. This all started
in the Spring of 2000, when a bunch of talented little girls came together
at GU11 to make the first version ECFC Fusion!
Time flies! And talented little girls grow into talented young women!
Despite a result we did not want, please remember that
the "best is yet to come."
These amazing and diverse young women are taking all that they have
learned, soccer and otherwise, to the corners of the continent, and places
in-between, to start yet another amazing life adventure that guarantees to
be even more exciting! Imagine the throngs they will impress!
I look forward to hearing all of their stories, and reading their press
clippings!
Thank you for making the past EIGHT years so much fun! Thanks to everyone
who has made this such a wonderful experience. It has been my privilege to
play a small role in highlighting the talents of all associated with ECFC
Fusion through this website, John Phillips

Otherwise, what more can you say? Here is the last game summary: It was
another tough and hard fought match on the Shadow's home pitch. ECFC
gave it its all and more, but we just could not get that one in the goal,
despite all of our best efforts. Is that what makes soccer the "beautiful
game?" Shadow slipped one in off the post at the 50th minute, and that was
the difference. Spokane goes on to the semifinals. ECFC goes home!
Congrats to all of the teams in the State Cup semifinals!
